At Sexual Addiction Treatment Services, it’s no surprise that we help those who are seeking treatment for sex addiction, pornography addiction, and other types of addictions of a sexual nature. That’s what we do every day.
Working with the addict isn’t all we do, though. Like most addictions, the addict is far from the only person who is affected by the destructive actions. When it comes to sexual addictions, the partner of the addict suffers almost as much. That’s why we offer programs for partners of those whose partners suffer from any form of sex addiction. Here are a few things you need to know before you give us a call.
It’s Obvious You Care
Love can be an incredibly strong force, and while others might have suggested that you give up on your relationship, you’re obviously reading this article because you care about your partner and want to see them get healthy. Your support can go a long way to helping them recover from their addiction; seeing them through their problems can dramatically increase their chance of success.
It’s Not Always a Decision
You probably already know that your partner is dealing with a mental problem that makes him or her act in ways that, without professional help, are nearly impossible to avoid. Sex addiction can be just as strong as any other addiction that exists, and understanding this can go a long to helping you realize that it’s not your fault.
Get the Group Help You Need
There’s a saying that goes “it may not be your fault, but it is your problem.” That certainly holds true if you are the partner of someone suffering from sex addiction. It’s bound to cause a large amount of problems in your life. When you join one of our partners groups you’ll find others who are coping with the same problems you are, and you can get advice on how to deal with specific problems that arise.
As of this writing, our classes for partners of sexual addicts are meeting at our Bethlehem office Wednesday from 12:00 – 1:00 and in our Conshohocken office on Thursdays from 10:00 – 11:30. Please check this page to verify the times for each location.
